John has spent the past nineteen years as a law enforcement officer with a large metropolitan department in Florida. He is still active as a Team Leader on the departments full time SWAT Team, where he has been a member for the past fourteen years. Previously serving as the teams lead explosive breacher and still lead combatives instructor.
During his law enforcement service, John has served in the following assignments: Detective Gang and Violent Crime Unit, Full Time Task Force Agent with a Federal Task Force, Supervisor in the Sex Crimes Unit, Supervisor Full Time SWAT.
John played a key role in the development of his teams combatives program through the implementation of SOCP. In addition, under the guidance of Greg Thompson and through the Florida SWAT Association, John developed a condensed three-day course to introduce law enforcement professionals to the key concepts of the SOCP curriculum. This course is offered multiple times per year throughout the state of Florida.
John is a Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt under Wade Rome (lineage to Ricardo Liborio) and regularly assist Greg Thompson as an assistant instructor and role-player.
Is a retired Infantry Marine with multiple combat deployments and former Chief Instructor / 6th Degree Black Belt of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. He also served as the lead Combatives Instructor for Naval Special Warfare (East Coast). Now serving as a combatives subject matter expert for U.S. government agencies. Ron has a vast background in martial arts and combatives and has a true passion for teaching.

Is a 30-year veteran of law enforcement with 20 years in LEO training. Pittman started his career as an undercover agent and has worked on the local state and federal level. Pittman also served on a gang task force and swat team as both a sniper and assaulter. Pittman has taught police hard skills to include firearms defensive tactics and physical fitness. Pittman has a degree in criminal justice from the University of southern Mississippi.
Pittman has been training Jiu-Jitsu for 27 years and is a fourth-degree black belt from Master Pedro Sauer.
Pittman is currently the lead combatives instructor for the regional counter drug training academy. For the past eight years he has taught SOCP/TACP under Greg Thompson to LEO officers across the nation.
R Robertson is a 23-year veteran of law enforcement with extensive experience serving in specialized units and task forces throughout North Carolina. Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation in law enforcement training, officer survival, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, and close quarters battle (CQB). Robertson holds numerous instructor certifications through North Carolina law enforcement training and accreditation programs, including Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, CQB Instructor, and Master Taser Instructor. In recognition of his contributions to law enforcement training, he was awarded Instructor of the Year by the International Association of Chiefs of Police in both 2018 and 2026. He has also instructed military personnel and law enforcement officers across the United States in practical combatives, officer survival, and integrated tactical training systems.
Robertson began training in martial arts at the age of five and earned the rank of Junior Black Belt in Taekwondo before the age of 16. He also holds a Black Belt in Okinawan Kempo Karate and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under renowned instructor Greg Thompson. As a mixed martial arts competitor, he compiled an 11-fight cage record with eight wins by submission, one by knockout, and two by decision. He is the owner and head instructor of Team ROC Gym in Eden, where he trains athletes, civilians, and law enforcement officers in martial arts, self-defense, and combatives with a focus on real-world application and performance under stress.
